    Metal knife with metal handle. Handle has waffle pattern incising and is in two pieces held together with screws. The blade is sharply hooked at the end. Records indicate that it was used to trim the hooves of "Old Jim" the last draft horse in Winnetka. 2019-2020 Winnetka Treasures

  4. 1990.02.01-.03 - Door

    Door from the wreck of the Lady Elgin found shortly after wreck. This is actually multiple pieces (3), likely from multiple doors. 1990.02.01 is a partial door frame, missing sections on the side and top. 1990.02.02 is a solid door with one portion of a metal hinge. It appears to have been painting a light blue or white with raised panel details in a yellowish color. 1990.02.03 is a piece of a door frame. 2019-2020 Winnetka Treasures

Newspaper clipping, March 3, 1957 (3 files attached) of sweater in accession file details the wearer, Madolyn Fraser wearing the sweater as "Queen of Rummage."     Pair of marker lamps used on the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad line. Black Iron, four sided with colored glass for lights: 3 blue, 1 red. Iron handle on top inscribed C&NWRR. Kerosene container & wick inside. Made by Ad-Lake (Adams Westlake) and called a "non-sweating" lamp due to its ability to prevent condensation from accumulating on the glass. 2019-2020 Winnetka Treasures

  10. 1999.2026.01a-b - Alarm

    Pen register, created by the J.H. Bunnell Company, New York. Device to transmit a Fire or Police Alarm through telephone lines of the member of the department, with key (1999.2025.1b). The device would use a pen (now missing) to make impressions or marks in the paper roll, either as holes in the paper or with ink. These marks, like morse code, could be translated to convey a message about an emergency. 2019-2020 Winnetka Treasures

    Caro Nan Basket Purse, 1978. Painted basket with handle and lined with floral fabric. Decals, stickers, and a penny adhered to the top of the lid. The local shops illustrated on the side include Minna Hart, which commissioned and sold these trendy purses. The trademark penny on the purse’s lid securely dates the piece to 1978. 2019-2020 Winnetka Treasures
