Two sepia-toned cabinet cards of Zeruah, Zernah or Zerna (Mrs. Erastus) Patterson, owner of Patterson Tavern, and a negative. (Note in 2019 there is no negative in the photograph storage file.) The portrait was taken in a studio setting with Mrs. Patterson sitting in a chair wearing a white bonnet. She is quite old. On verso is photographer's information: H. S. Brown, Photographer, 89 Wisconsin St., Milwaukee, Wis. A handwritten note with information found on one of the cards reads; "Mrs. Zeruah Patterson came from Vermont in covered wagon. Mr. & Mrs. Patterson were 1st settlers in Winnetka. Built old Tavern." |
